Privet Henkka 4,00-18 its not a problem. On my jawa has been installed 4.10-18 rear tire.

It's not a big problem because chain isn't too tight. Afterall a grear tire! I think it last much longer than org tire. Now I'm only waiting for snow melting out of roads!

Hyvää päivää!!! (Am I mistaken?) It's pleasant thing to see that you are in the process of preparing your bike to a new season! 4,00-18 H-06 - is a very good choice for touring purpose,it makes a bike to be more stable on the highway in comparison with the 3,5 - 18 one(original dimension).(IMHO) So I wish you good luck on roads and I hope that Mitas won't let you down!

P.S. This is my JAWA 350-638 with 4,00-18 H-15 rear tire. Everything suits perfectly! The only thing is that the tire is almost in touch with rear floating lever.

Original tire isn't good because it worn out in about 10 000km. For me it's about 1,5 years ride. Btw do you know what that number "H-06" mean? Is it profile height?

Yesterday I lubricated chain with grease gun. About 6 gun pushings. That would keep the chain in grease about 3000km.

Now my Jawa have a 48l back box http://picasaweb.google.com/twostrokesm ... 0854324946 2 helmets fit in tightly but most importantly it gives much more space to tarvel equipments than old small Givi box. In next summer I can travel more easily.

Btw you have very nice Jawa!

I think that "H-06" is nothing but name of the tire model,it does not state particular dimensions itself( it's like "Diablo Corsa" for Pirelli )
The difference,for example,between "H-06" and "H-15" could be only in the tread pattern and compounds of the tires.(IMHO)

As far as I see you are fully equipped for making tour around the Earth:) Your JAWA looks perfectly,it is good in shape and,no doubt,functional!The only thing i would like to admit,that there is no need to lubricate the chain so often. One lubrication every 5000-10000 km is quite enough for this type of transmission. You see,those rubber cowls you have on your bike chain were designed to protect lubrication from desiccation and wasting,as well as from getting dust inside. So if there is a crack,or a hole in the cowl,it must be substituted for a new one,otherwise it will surely decrease a life time of the chain.

Yes my Jawa is perfect bike for touring. Reliable, durable and quite comfortable. Maybe you are right with the lubrication interval, but I want only to make sure that chain have always the best lubrication. New grease is always new grease IMO. Yes I know the problem with chain rubbers. Usually those rubbers last only about 15 000km. The quality of rubber is not very good. But afterall Jawa's chain cover is way better than in japanese bikes. Open chain mess up the whole bike and chain life is short. Especuially when riding on gravel roads.

Today I also started my moto season 2010 http://picasaweb.google.com/twostrokesm ... 5989107458 Temperature was about +6c and I rode about 50km. Absolutely no problems and engire runned very good. New Mitas H-06 rear tire improved cornering but not much. Now I'm only waiting for warmer weather to do a longer trip.

Vsem privet! I've ridden already a month with my Jawa. Everything works in 100%. New Mitas H-06 rear tire is very good in highway speeds. Gear ratio is also a slighty longer cause of the higher rear tire. Revs dropper about 100-150rpm in 4'th gear. Video taken in last wednesday http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZEDMeWKKEm8

Summer is really came also in here. Today I made a trip to Lappeenranta(85km)with my Jawa. Temperature was +26c !! And today odometer showed 23 000km. So I've ridden overall about 15 000km with my Jawa. It never let me down. Great machine! Tomorrow I'll go to Orimattila classic bike/car happening with Jawa. Maybe I see also other Jawas in there. Keep'on twosmoking!

Vsem privet! Now the annual Jawasakki meeting is over. And ofcourse I was there with my Jawa. It was in Muurame central Finland. Very beautiful landscapes but awful weather. It rained almost all the time. Happy suprise was that three slovakian guys was there with their old Perak Jawas. Privet Tselovek! In here we don't have any other tech checkings than during the registration of the new (or re-registration) motorcycle. But in Sweden motorcycles have to be checked in every 2 years(like in Ukraine).

Car check? What will prevent a car with broken rear brakes ride on roads?
