Jawa 350/640 year 2001

Hello Ukranian Jawa riders!

I'm a biker from Finland. Forum member Vlad told about this forum for me. I've noticed that in Ukraine Jawa is very popular and valued bike. Things are completely different in Finland. Jawa is very rare and underrated bike in here. But we have still a few people who like these legendary czech bikes. I'm also a member of our one and only Jawa club called Jawasakki. But now I tell something about my bike!

It's a 350cc type 640 manufacture year 2001. I bought it in june 2008 (I had before 350/640 year 2002 for 2 years(2006-2007)but sold it in 2007 september) used but only 8000km ridden and in very good condition. It have Mikuni oilpump and Vape ignition in original fitment. Also it have original side boxes(made in czech rep)and Kappa front windshield. I have updated the bike for more to touring use. 640 have been extremely reliable bike. I've ridden mostly with my wife sitting in back and there haven't been any problems to do even a longer touring with it. Now the odometer shows about 24 000km so I've ridden about 16 000km with it. And I've decided to never sell this bike so there are lots of km to come with it. Fuel consumption is about 4,5-5l/100km in touring with a passenger. Oil consumption is very low. I can ride about 1000km with a 1,5l of oil. But normally I add oil in every 300-500km because I don't want that the oil runs out while riding.

640 is a very stable and soft bike to ride also in gravel roads. Suspension and engine (not the electrics) is same than in 638, but the frame is different. Maximum comfortable travel speed with passenger is about 110km/h. Under that speed it's relaxing to ride, but over that the suspension and engine power aren't so good. Top speed is about 130km/h. I've removed almost all from the silencers and put a bigger jets to carburetor. It increased torque and acceleration a bit. I think that now it have a little more than 23hp.

Hi Dimka! I use mainly Mobil 2T Extra semi synthetic or Teboil 2T Bike full synthetic(only can buy in Finland I guess).

Я бакер из Финляндии, участник форума Vlad рассказал мне об этом форуме (Скмх: Спасибо, Влад! ))) и я заметил, что на украине Ява очень популярный и ценимый мотоцикл.
Увы, но не так обстоят дела в Финляндии - Явы очень редки и совсем даже не ценимы.
Но у нас всё таки есть некоторое количество поклонников этих легендарных чешских мотоциклов, я также член нашего единственного Ява-клуба "Явасакки", сайт http://www.jawasakki.fi/

Но щас я расскажу о своем мотоцикле !
Это 350 кубовая 640 2001 года, купленная мной в июне 2008 (до этого у меня была 640 два года (06-07), но в сентябре 07 я её продал), с пробегом всего 8000км и в очень себе даже шоколадном состоянии.
на ней стоит маслонасос Микуни и зажигание Vape в оригинале (Скмх: надо полагать комплектация такая ?), а также фирменные чешские боковые кофры и ветровик Kappa.
Я аццки затюнил свой мотоцикл под туриста, поэтмоу купил оригианльную защиту ручек руля, хромированные дуги и задний кофр.

640 - обалденно надежный мотоцикл, я в основном катаюсь с женой и ни разу во время поездок не было никаких проблем.
сейчас одометр говорит о 24 тыкм, значит я накатал около 16 тыкм.
Я решил никогда не продавать этот мотоцикл и наездить ещё много-много.
Расход 4,5 -5 литров в режиме неспешной поедки с пассажиром.
Потребление масла (Скмх: напомню- раздельная смазка) очень мало - что-то около 1,5 литров на 1000 км, хотя вообще-то я обычно подливаю масло кажые 300-500 км из боязни в один прекрасный момент пересохнуть.

640 очень устойчивый и мягкий мотоцикл, даже на гравийках.
Подвеска и движок, за исключением электрики точно такие же. как на 638 (Скмх: Боюсь он удивится контактному зажиганию и маслу в бак), но рама иная.
Максимальная комфортная скорость с пассажиром около 110 кмч: до этой скорости едешь на расслабухе, но если выше - подвеска и движок не справляются. Максимальная скорость около 130.
Я практически распотрошил глушители и поставил большие жиклёры в карбюраторы. что немного увеличило момент и ускорение, так что , думаю, теперь там немного больше 23 лошадок (Скмх: ???? какие 23?).

while translating i was a bit interested in your version of 638 - what about oilpumps and hps for them ?
Why asking - we here have 638 with manual oil mixing in tank and 26hp, so was a bit surprised of you saying about 23 in 640

Thanks! Maybe sometime in future. It needs lots of time and money to do that. I would definately like to do that though! I know because I have Ukranian/Finnish friend.

You can add the oilpump also for 638 if you buy 640 clutch side engine cover with pump. It's a very easy to install. Then you have to put the oil reservoir to somewhere in the bike.

So normally finnish 638's don't have it ?

Hello,Henkka! I would like to admit that your bike is a pattern of JAWA for me. It's good in shape for that matter the technical state is also perfect! I was really surprised to observe your topic on the site,nevertheless we are always glad to see new friends among us!
And what about questions...As far as I know, 2 stroke engines are prohibited in Europe. The reason is that they are not so friendly to surrounding environment. Is there the problem in your country to use this type of engine?

Privet Yuriy! Also thank's for the compliments! It's completely same thing in Finland. 2-stroke engine bikes are in difficult situation after EU tightened the gas emission limits in 2003. Also 2-stroke Jawa import ended in Finland in 2003(only 125cc and 650cc models still continue)But it's a relief that spare part importing continueing also in the future.

Hi Eugene! In 250/559 that black colour wasn't original. Previuos owner was sprayed it black.
